First Church's Ministry of Hospitality

    At First Church we take the term First Impression personally.  The ministry of hospitality is important to us.  Hospitality is also important to God.  In the Bible hospitality toward both their own people and strangers in their land, was required of God's people.  The ministry of hospitality is one of the most important functions of the church.  We believe how we greet and relate to one another is an indication of the general health of the church.  How we make outsiders feel welcome in our presence is an indication of our commitment to the great commission Jesus gave us to make disciples.

     There are many facets of the ministry of hospitality.  Each Sunday morning greeters and ushers welcome members, friends, and visitors alike to our worship services.  Their friendly smiles and helpful directions are important in making a good First Impression.  Between services we offer refreshments in the Cafe' in the church basement off the Jefferson Street lobby.  Doughnuts, coffee, and juice are served.  Tom Witten coordinates this facet of the ministry of hospitality.
