The theme for our pledge campaign for the 2009 church budget was "The Grace of Giving."  Our key verse was 2 Corinthians 8:7, which says, “But just as you excel in everything- in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness, and in your love for us- see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”  First Church certainly fits this biblical description.  She is a church that excels in so many ways.

    Our worship services are inspiring and meaningful.  Our children’s and youth programs are both outstanding.  Our music program is first rate.  Our service groups, such as the missions committee and our women’s group and circles, are active, giving meaningful service to others.  Our facility is awesome.  Our fellowship opportunities are many and varied.  Our Bible study and Sunday school programs are outstanding.  In so many ways, our programs, people, and ministries are first rate.

     In the past "The Grace of Giving" has been one more area where First Church has excelled.  The people of First Church have faithfully provided the finances to make excellence in ministry possible.  This fall, the campaign asked you to consider the next year in the life of the church.  We asked how we, together, will serve God and each other in the new year?  Your response to date has been 155 pledges for $339,732 toward the 2009 church budget.  Pledges are still being accepted.  If you have not pledged yet, please consider giving finance secretary Marilyn Bebout a call at the church office.    Thank you and God bless you.
