– Administrative Board and All Ministry Teams -

Dear Friends;

Greetings in the name of Jesus. We are informing you about the 2012 Leadership Retreat of our congregation and INVITING you to attend and help us plan as together we implement God’s vision for our ministries and mission activities for the periods 2012-2014.

Subject:.……………………………………………………………………..  Leadership Planning Retreat

Date: ………………………………………………………………………… Saturday, January 07, 2012

Time: ………………………………………………………………………… 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Place: ………………………………………………………………………..  FUMC Building

A Leadership Retreat is a meeting of our congregation to celebrate the success of the past, create a plan for the future and build collaborative relationships between Church Staff and Ministry Team Leaders and members of the congregation.

The main purpose for this January 07, 2012 PLANNING RETREAT is for our Leadership Team to meet and VISION together; set goals for the periods 2012-2014; and focus on our Mission – Vision Statements in light of our Ministries and Mission activities as a congregation.

The expectation is that all our Ministry Teams be present at the Retreat for planning-visioning-goal-setting with the hope of not duplicating ministries but each complimenting the other in reaching our goals for the period under consideration.

The Benefits Of A Leadership Retreat

- Develop and work on leadership skills. - Eliminate conflict and mistrust.
- Create a long-term vision that impacts Ministry and Mission.
- Discover new opportunities and possibilities. - Create commitment for specific outcomes.

- Create workable solutions for existing problems.

- Improve communication and leadership effectiveness.
- Create synergy between leaders. - Create trust, respect and commitment.
- Replace burnout with renewed energy: spiritual and physical and emotional.

Now more than ever, leaders at all levels of the congregation need to do that which separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom: TALK!  Talking among Ministry Team Leaders and Ministry Team Members is so-so important and might be the golden key of our service together.

Technology is great but E-mailing and other forms of modern communication works very well for data but when emotions are involved, [and in the church setting that is very true] only face-to-face communication really carries the moment and progress into something rewarding – Come let’s TALK!

We look forward to having you share ideas as together we carryout God’s ministry at First Church.

Please let the church office know your decision to attend by December 1st, 2011 to help our Hospitality Ministry plan lunch and refreshments.

Thank you very much and may God continue to bless you.

Pastor Gus
