Our church family is here for you. We offer a variety of care and support programs, both directly and through partnerships with local agencies, to meet your needs. Whether you're seeking a listening ear, practical help, or spiritual guidance, we're here to support you on your journey.

Basic Needs and Support

Food Pantry

First Church is the home to the Cooperative Ministries Food Pantry. Food pantry hours are Monday and Wednesday from 1 - 3 PM and Friday from 10 AM - 12 PM. Bring photo identification and proof of address.

Bread and Bowl

First Church hosts Bread and Bowl, a free meal on Friday nights. Open to anyone, these meals offer a chance for fellowship and a warm meal to any who might need it.

Wednesday night FEAST is a low-cost, home-cooked meal that is prepared Wednesday nights during the school year. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Operation Back to School

Operation Back to School, an event in late July, serves students from Van Wert county by providing school supplies, hygiene items, fresh produce and much more. Pre-registration is required to receive supplies. Contact Teresa Shaffer. teresa.shaffer@vanwertfirst.net

Care and Connection

Pastoral Care and Visitation

Life's journey brings moments of joy and sorrow, challenge and growth. Pastoral care is available to walk with you through all of these experiences, offering support during times of grief, illness, loneliness, or spiritual questioning. Prayer

The prayer team meets Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. Please contact the church office at 419-238-0631 or email firstchurch@vanwertfirst.net with prayer requests or submit them here.

Stephen Ministry 

Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations that use the Stephen Series system. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers – called Stephen Ministers – to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.
